The Lincolnton Public Services Director, Nathan Eurey, was recently informed of a garbage truck chassis that was ready for sale by the Vanguard Truck Center. This chassis would cost the city $404,500.00 and is a 2024 Autocar ACX64. The city periodically updates or purchases additional trash trucks to keep up with aging technology and a growing community so this expense is certainly budgeted. Additionally, because of city expansion, Lincolnton may have to start running four trash trucks instead of the three the city is running currently. The current supply chain for the autocar chassis is struggling to keep up with demand, so as a result Mr. Eurey thought it prudent to issue a letter of intent to purchase to Vanguard Truck Center to ensure Lincolnton would get the chassis when needed. The city plans to officially purchase the chassis sometime after July 1 of this year and “will be available for delivery sometime in the 1st quarter of 2026,” as stated in Mr. Eurey’s letter to the city council. Before delivery, the chassis will be sent to Amick Equipment Company for the installation of a New Way 31-yard Sidewinder body. The upgrade Amick will install is included in the $404,500.00 purchase price. The council evaluated the proposal and unanimously consented.
