At Monday's County Commissioners meeting the county Finance Director Deanna Rios brought a request for funding the expansion of St. James Elementary School located in Denver. The project has a not to exceed cost of 13 million dollars.

However Mrs. Rios noted that the financing would be closer to the 11 million dollar range. The finance department requested for there to be a public hearing on the matter. Only one citizen signed up to speak, G. Hoyle.

Mr. Hoyle voiced concern on the amount of money the was approved to be spent on the new animal shelter in contrast to the condition of other schools in the county. Mr Hoyle also remarked that the county government should compare how much is being spent per child to how much is being spent per cat and dog.

The commissioners made no response to Mr. Hoyle. Chairman Jamie Linberger entertained a motion to adopt the school financing. Commissioner Bud Cesena made a motion to approve, all other commissioners voted to approve.
